Touchwood Cider
Our cider is born from the sea-blown Cornish orchards of heritage apples. We craft a traditional still apple cider, available in Sweet, Medium, and Dry. Alongside this, we offer ‘Touchwood Cornish Sparkling’ in bottle. This spring, we’re delighted to introduce two new ciders: ‘Touchwood Tropical Cider’ and ‘Touchwood Low’ – our first non-alcoholic cider.
It all began in 1984, when Nigel Smith started planting an orchard of cider apples. That same year, Cornwall County Council launched an initiative to preserve and revive historic Cornish apple varieties. Inspired, Nigel began planting a diverse range of apples across his orchards.
When he arrived at Woodlands Farm, he discovered an old granite circular trough in the yard – once used for crushing cider apples. The farm also held an ancient cider barn, though the orchards that had surrounded it were long gone. Those discoveries became the heart of what Touchwood Cider is today: a return to Cornwall’s lost cider heritage, one apple at a time.
